This week’s Insight: Navigating Change
“Your job is to ride the waves, not calm the sea.” - My Mom
As we started this year, I’m getting a sense that there seems to be an awful lot going on. More than we expected. The real estate industry has woken up from last fall and come through the holidays and said, “Let's get going!” The good news is that people are taking action, bringing their people together, and moving forward.
Looking all around us and seeing volatility in our markets, and volatility in society in general, this can cause real challenges with helping reach our goals and helping our people reach their goals this year. So it’s our job as leaders to navigate change.
So grab a pen and paper and watch these mini-clips from the session. You can also watch the full episode at the top of the page.
Navigating Change vs Resolving Change
Just Ride the Waves Don’t Calm the Sea
I have found that the most successful individuals, whether they're salespeople, office managers, company leaders, or industry leaders, are the ones navigating changes and identifying the opportunities within them.
And do so without necessarily having to fix everything!
Leaders are the distraction-eliminators and focus-creators who help people make decisions to keep moving forward during change.
Three core things I can do as a leader that gives people more control in turbulent times:
Focus on Values: People on a mission are unstoppable
Encourage motion (MVP)
Show some attitude (accentuate optimism)
